A Joyous Beginning

Alright people, it's time to forget about unimportant things like class and finals and job searches and beginning internships. None of that matters anymore. The Astros are 3-1 for the first time in years. The last time we had a winning record was in 2009. We hadn't won a season-opening series since 2006 over the Marlins (you'll obviously remember Craig Biggio stealing home in the bottom of the 8th to score the go-ahead run on Opening Day).

Now our young guns are firing and the season looks bright. Clearly we won't get over-presumptuous and talk about playoffs or winning the division. But what was supposed to be an agonizing, multiple-year rebuilding project is on the fast-track. JD Martinez is batting .385. Jose Altuve and Marwin Gonzalez each have 4 runs in 4 games. Lucas Harrell pitched 7 scoreless innings against the Rockies. Chris Johnson is looking like the clutch-hitting rookie we saw in 2010. Carlos Lee is even contributing!!

2 of these 3 wins have been come-from-behind wins. Which the Astros are notorious for NOT accomplishing.

Obviously, there are still 158 games to be played this season. It could all easily go downhill from here. But the possibility of finishing over .500 is realistic. And if nothing else, we got to have an exciting start to what was supposed to be an awful season.
